Claude Doing?

Privacy

Everything stays on your Mac. The app never calls Claude or any model, and sends nothing anywhere. Its only network request is the daily check for updates.

What it reads

It only reads these; it never changes them:

  • The process list, and each process’s program, CPU, memory, disk and GPU use. It also reads network byte counts from macOS’s nettop.
  • Claude Code’s live session files in ~/.claude/sessions/ (never the .key files beside them), and the chat histories in ~/.claude/projects/ for tool calls and token counts.
  • The Claude desktop app’s session records, for sidebar titles.
  • Its own hook log and the companion plugin’s readings, if you add them.
  • The sizes of Claude’s folders, for Storage.

From the chat histories it keeps only what it shows: tool names, commands and file paths, times, and token counts. It never keeps your prompts or Claude’s replies.

What it runs

Read-only commands, and only for tools that are installed:

ps, nettop, ioreg, docker ps, docker stats, docker inspect, podman ps, prlctl list, utmctl list, vmrun list, VBoxManage list runningvms, limactl list, colima list, multipass list, tart list, orbctl list, container list

What it changes, only when you press the button

  • Stop or Suspend:
    • a VM’s or container’s own command, such as docker stop or prlctl suspend
    • for a plain process, a request to quit
    • each one asks you to confirm first
  • Monitoring setup: the hook in ~/.claude/settings.json, saving a backup first, and the companion plugin. Each is added only when you choose, and removable from Settings.
  • Storage clean-up:
    • moves to the Trash, or deletes if you choose, after confirming
    • never touches memories, settings, skills, plugins, or the files of open sessions

The network

The one request the app makes is the daily update check. It downloads a small signed file from the app’s releases on GitHub, which means GitHub sees your IP address, as it would for any download. You can turn the check off in Settings › About. If an update is available, it’s downloaded from the same place only when you choose to install it.
